Laura La Plante (1 November 1904 – 14 October 1996) was an American actress who appeared in over 60 films throughout her career, primarily in the 1920s and 1930s. She is perhaps best known for her roles in classic Hollywood productions such as The Cat and the Canary, Show Boat, and The Love Trap. She often played the leading lady or the romantic interest of the main character. In addition to her film work, she appeared in several television shows and was a regular on the daytime soap opera General Hospital. She retired from acting in the 1960s and worked as a real estate agent until her death in 1996 at the age of 91.
