James Whale

James Whale (22 July 1889 – 29 May 1957) was an English film director known for his work in classic horror films, including Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, and Bride of Frankenstein. He was also a theater director and served in the British Army during World War I. Despite his success in Hollywood, he suffered from depression and committed suicide in 1957.
