Richard Carlson (29 April 1912 – 24 November 1977) was an American actor, director, and screenwriter who appeared in over 80 films throughout his career, primarily in the 1940s and 1950s. He is perhaps best known for his roles in classic Hollywood productions such as The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Little Foxes, and The Ghost Breakers. He often played the leading man or the heroic character. In addition to his acting work, he directed several films and television shows, including I Led 3 Lives and Maverick. He also wrote several screenplays and authored several books. He passed away in 1977 at the age of 65.
